Literacy Strategist

This instructional coaching position will provide essential leadership through both the development and implementation of RSU5 literacy initiatives, through design and supervision of staff development, and direct support for prekindergarten through fifth grade teachers and educational technicians. A successful candidate will have strong understanding and experience with Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and reading development. The ability to collect and use data, analyze student work, and to identify next steps for growth are required. A strong track record managing complexities of both long term and short-term support for teachers is a plus. Effective communication skills and personal initiative are also necessary in this position. In addition to district staff development, this position primarily supports teachers at Durham Community School and Pownal Elementary. The opportunity to work in collaboration with other elementary strategists, elementary principals, Teachers College staff developers, and the assistant superintendent enhance this role.

Requirements:

Must hold a valid Teacher Certification from Maine Dept. of Education.
